I make turkey burgers many ways, but I recently tried an experiment that worked out great, so I would like to share it with you.

I’ve been cooking a lot with Mung Beans since I discovered them.  They are not only the most perfect, bean ( high in protein, fibre, low glycemic and super nutritious) they are very versatile!  I’ve thrown them in soups, spaghetti sauce, salads etc. and expect to create more recipes with them soon.  But today, I want to share with you a Turkey Burger recipe I created!  Super yummy, super high in protein and fibre, and very filling!

4 lbs Ground Turkey

1 1/2 cups Mung Beans, cooked and cooled

2 Eggs

2 tbsp Olive Oil

4 tbsp Oat Bran

3 tbsp Allspice

1 tsp Garlic Powder

Sea Salt to taste

Cayenne optional

Add the meat, olive oil,  spices, oatbran and mix well.

Add the Mung Beans then the eggs and blend together with your hand.

*A good tip here, is to keep your hands wet enough, when you are forming the patties, that way the meat doesn’t stick to your hands.

Form into patties and pan fry in a non-stick pan on medium heat.  The olive oil in the patty will keep them from sticking to the pan.

Cook for a few minutes on each side till done, but be careful not to over cook and make them dry!

Serve hot with your favourite condiment, or a simple fresh tomato salsa!  They’re great cold too!

Till next time…………………Mangia!

  1. Those sound awesome, I will have to try them, I just recently made the mung bean soup again, as well as my famous butternut squash soup. Yesterday I had a little of both left over and I mixed them together, and what a great taste experience. This time when I made the mung bean soup I also added some chicken. Ciao for now Have a great day.
