About

Hi! My name is Angie, and I am on a mission!  Health is my passion NOT my profession! I think health and beauty go hand in hand.  I believe if you look good, you feel good and if you feel good, you look even better!

I thought I could cook in my early twenties, then I found out that Mac and Cheese and Ham Steaks wasn’t really cooking. Then I met some vegetarians and tried that for a while. Learned a lot. In my thirties I started craving my Italian roots so I started really paying attention to family recipes. By the time I was 40 I had gained about 20 lbs and had my first gallbladder attack.

Note to self…………simple carbs are not for me!

That’s when my journey into healthy eating began. Since then, I’ve read and researched and read….I’ve tried a lot of diets and lifestyles and I can honestly say, I’ve finally established my own way of cooking and preparing food that agrees with me, still keeping to my roots and beyond!

All I see around me, is chronic pain and illness, and death because of it, and frankly, it scares the (you know what) out of me! I don’t want to end up that way nor do I want to see my loved ones, friends and people I care about to end up that way either! Hence, the mission!

I am on the mission to learn as much as I possibly can about the TRUTH about everything and share it with whoever wants to know! I want to be in control of my body, my health and my mind!!! I want to learn both sides of the story and make up my mind, what I want to do with it and about it. Not what someone who’s only purpose, is to get me addicted to pharmaceuticals, tells me! Rebellious you may say, I call it POWER!

Learning about the food we eat, is paramount. How it’s grown, how it’s processed, where it comes from, I could go on and on, but I might scare you and you may not want to eat again! But that’s the point! It IS scary! and if you care about your body and what happens to it, You’ll want to know and do something about it too!

In the name of human advancement and technology, we constantly challenge our body’s with polluted, genetically modified and processed, so-called foods, and in the name of science, reach for a magic pill to make us better!

We have strayed so far from what is real, that we don’t even question, anymore. Most of us go on about our day, trusting everything that’s put in front of us. This goes for more than just food. We think if someone of authority or credentials says something is good for you, we blindly believe them. Even if, in the back of your own mind, you question, or have a funny feeling, you still go for it because everyone else does…..

I want to get back to the beginning. I want to understand my vessel and what drives it. I will do what ever it takes to keep myself as healthy as I can and continue to question what doesn’t make sense to me. I will eat less red meat and more raw food. I will concentrate on increasing my natural gut flora by taking probiotics and eating more fermented foods. I will try to keep off all simple carbs and sugar and eat lots of green vegetables and salads. I will work on making excercise part of my normal routine.

I will ENJOY doing it, even if I fall off the wagon from time to time, because…… I’m in control!

People are always asking me for my recipes and I needed a hobby that interested me so I thought I’d check this out for a while and see how it works for me.   So far I’m having fun writing and creating easy, nutritious dishes that are not just delicious but look like art on a plate.  I really think that the eyes are the first things that stimulate the appetite!

I am proud to be a member of the “healthy eating movement” and if I can help or inspire others to do the same,  well, I think that”s great!

  1. Grazie mille! Piacere, Angie! Anche a me piace la cucina italiana. 😉
I’m super beginner of Italian and I’m so interested in Italian culture including food, people anything about. I’m not a part of Italian though! As you mention above, I’m also a person who cares of my food that where it comes from, yet how it is grown even by whom! I agree with your thought and would like to join you to be a mumber of the “healthy eathing movement”! I appreciate your encouragement! It makes my day today!

  8. Nice write up about yourself and your wishes. I tend to agree with you with looking good and feeling good. I believe that nutrient is the key to become happy in a large percentage of your life. For me also knowing that no sentient being has to die to satisfy my taste buds is another. Also having positive people around your life who are honest and loyal in good times and bad. Enjoy your Sunday 😉
